The following dispatch was written by forest defenders camping in and near Grandmother, the last ancient cottonwood along the border in the San Rafael Valley near Lochiel, Arizona. It was anonymously submitted to L&F and is published below in Spanish and English.

From the Borderlands in Lochiel, AZ - Defenders of the Grandmother Cottonwoods in Lochiel, Arizona gathered at sunrise to tend to the wound severing one land, one people. At the scar that cuts through the hills of the San Rafael Valley, land defenders prayed for the end of US empire and the healing of the Peoples, lands, and life forms that call this valley home.
Land defenders in prayer stood side-by-side bridging the wound across the so-called US/Mexico border.
As machinery approached for the start of the work day, land defenders asserted their right to freedom of movement and spiritual practice. A few land defenders approached machinery in the near distance to stop them from disrupting the ceremony.
As workers attempted to drive along the US imposed divide, they were unable to pass from either direction and forced to turn around.
As those in prayer greeted the rising sun and made offerings, private security vehicles accelerated aggressively through the traffic cone barrier at those in prayer in an attempt to menace.
Unintimidated, the land defenders stayed in ceremony, steadfast in their dedication to protect Grandmother Trees, call an end to the border and the border wall, and defend their relation with all living beings.
Private security threatened further by calling the sheriffs and then forcibly stating, "Your faces are already all over the internet!"
The sheriff never showed up.
As the private security retreated, the sunrise rose over the valley - blessing the land, her defenders, and the Grandmother Cottonwoods.

El siguiente comunicado fue escrito por defensores del bosque que acampan en Grandmother y sus alrededores, el último álamo antiguo que queda a lo largo de la frontera en el valle de San Rafael, cerca de Lochiel, Arizona. Fue enviado de forma anónima a L&F y se publica a continuación en español e inglés.

Desde la Frontera en Lochiel, AZ - Defensores de la Abuela Álamo en Lochiel, AZ se reunieron al amanecer para sanar la herida que divide la region y a la gente. En la brecha que atraviesa las lomas del valle de San Rafael, los defensores oraron por el fin del imperio estadounidense y por la sanación de la gente, la tierra, y todas las formas de vida que habitan el valle.
Los defensores se mantuvieron unidos en oración lado a lado ofrenciendo medicina a la herida que es la frontera del tal llamado estado Mexicano / Estadounidense.
Mientras la maquinaria pesada se aproximaba para comenzar el día de trabajo, los defensores del Álamo afirmaron su derecho al movimiento libre y a practicar su espiritualidad. Unos pocos defensores se acercaron a la maquinaria en la cercanía para prevenir que interrumpieran la ceremonia.
Cuando los trabajadores del muro intentaron atravesar por la carretera fronteriza construida por los Estados Unidos, se vieron obligados a regresarse.
Mientras los oradores daban la bienvenida al sol y sus ofrendas, los vehiculos de seguridad privada aceleraron agresivamente a través de los conos de tráfico con intención de amenazarlos.
Sin intimidarse, los defensores continuaron la ceremonia y se mantuvieron firmes en su dedicación de proteger a la Abuela Álamo y pedir el fin de la frontera y el muro fronterizo, protegiendo la interrelación entre todos los seres vivos que habitan la región.
La seguridad privada prosiguió su amenaza al llamar al sheriff y proclamar que "las caras de los participantes ya se encontraban por todo el internet".
El sheriff nunca se apareció.
Mientras la seguridad privada se retiraba, el sol se asomó y se alzó sobre el valle, bendiciendo la tierra, sus defensores y a las abuelas Álamos.
