We are outraged at the political targeting of two Tucson community members in relation to an anti-ICE protest that occurred on June 11, 2025. Thursday evening, September 18th, plainclothes TPD detectives served search warrants and arrested two people. The warrants mentioned words such as "riot" "terrorism" and "anti-government."
The next day, September 19th, the Pima County Prosecutors office made arguments for the charges of criminal damage, riot, and terrorism. After a shockingly dispassionate argument made by the prosecutor, which included talking points vaguely alluding to the death of Charlie Kirk, quoting the dictionary rather than the law, and other talking points clearly parroted from the Trump administration, the judge found no probable cause for the charge of terrorism. The lack of rigorous legal argument made by the prosecutor is revealing of the almost certain truth--this is an order emanating from Washington, D.C. in an effort to stifle and chill any and all dissent. We call on Laura Conover and those in her office to do what is right, refuse to obey orders from Trump as they come from the Department of Justice and federal law enforcement. They are not asking state and local prosecutors to enforce laws, they are demanding adherence to a fascist regime as it ramps up its rhetoric and violence by the day.
The timing of these warrants and arrests should also not go ignored. This is a clear bid to intimidate peaceful demonstrators that planned a vigil on the 19th for those lost to the deportation machine outside of the ICE field office at 6431 S Country Club at 6:30pm.
We declare our solidarity with both people arrested, and regardless of legal outcome, support anyone targeted by this investigation or by any law enforcement operation over alleged participation in or support for resistance to ICE's activities. This administration and its politicized, militarized police force—ICE—must be stopped. The racist, dehumanizing deportation campaign targeting parents, children, workers, neighbors, and activists alike must be stopped. All people of conscience must take the risks necessary to stop this. We cannot do it in isolation nor can we wait for politicians to solve this at the midterm elections next year.
While we cannot, and will not wait for politicians to solve the crisis of fascism through electoralism, we demand that the city government officials of Tucson and Pima County find their conscience in this fight alongside us.
While they’re stuck deciding which way is up, we know this:
The popular resistance against ICE in Los Angeles slowed down the cruel goals of the Trump administration by months. We saw that it takes a relatively small number of people with a little guts, gusto, and coordination to become a massive thorn in the side of the deportation machine. In Tucson on the day mentioned in the warrants, a much smaller number disrupted the quiet facade outside an ICE office for a day. Across the US, people are keeping tabs on ICE and watching out for each other. Over a hundred million people in this country oppose the Trump regime. That is no small number. What if they did something about it?
You’re thinking it, we’re saying it. Let’s be honest, you’re probably saying it too. The only solution to dictatorship is mass resistance. As you read or hear these words, the federal government is attempting to curtail free speech, make poverty worse for millions, make abortion illegal everywhere, and deport just about anyone with darker skin than Jimmy Kimmel. Anyone who has ever imagined what they would do to oppose the rollout of authoritarian rule now has a historical opportunity and responsibility to answer that question.
Through this investigation and through every traffic stop where TPD calls ICE, we can see what side city officials are really on. We need to move without them and if they catch up, good for them—we’re not waiting.
It’s scary to fight back, but its even scarier to wait and see the next draconian move they make. There are more of us than them and together we are strong. It takes all people of all types, doing many different things, and all the creativity we can put together. What will you do to build the world we need?

Estamos enfurecides con la persecución política de dos miembros de la comunidad de Tucson en relación a la protesta contra ICE que pasó el 11 de junio, 2025. El jueves, el 18 de septiembre, detectives de TPD vestides de civil presentaron órdenes de registro y se llevaron presos a dos personas. Palabras como “disturbio,” “terrorismo,” y “anti-gobierno” aparecen en las órdenes.
Al día siguiente, el 19 de septiembre, la Fiscalía del Condado de Pima argumentó por cargos de daños criminales, disturbio, y terrorismo contra las personas acusadas. Tras el argumento sorprendentemente desapasionado del fiscal, que incluyó temas que hacían vaga referencia a la muerte de Charlie Kirk y en el que el fiscal citaba el diccionario en vez de la ley, la jueza no encontró causa probable del cargo de terrorismo. La falta de un argumento legal riguroso revela la verdad casi innegable que ésta es una orden que proviene de Washington, D.C., como parte de un esfuerzo federal para ahogar y reprimir toda expresión de disenso político. Exigimos que Laura Conover y toda la fiscalía hagan lo correcto y se nieguen a obedecer las órdenes del Departamento de Justicia y fuerzas de orden federales provenientes de Trump. El gobierno federal no pide que las fiscalías locales y estatales cumplan con la ley, sino exigie que se adhieran a una régimen fascista mientras acelera su retórica y violencia día tras día.

Éste es un intento evidente de intimidar a una manifestación pacifica planeada para las 6:30 esta tarde, frente a la oficina de campo de ICE en 6431 S Country Club, donde se realizará una vigilia por las víctimas de la máquina de deportación.
Declaramos nuestra solidaridad con las dos personas detenidas e independientemente del resultado legal, apoyamos a toda persona que se encuentre objeto de esta investigación o de cualquier operación de las fuerzas del orden por alegaciones de resistencia contra las actividades de ICE o apoyo a esta resistencia. Tenemos que parar a este gobierno y a ICE—una agencia de policía politizada y militarizada. Tenemos que parar la campaña racista y deshumanizante de deportación que tiene por objeto a madres y padres de familia, niñes, trabajadores, vecines, y activistas. Todas las personas de conciencia debemos asumir los riesgos necesarios para poner fin a esto. Aislades no lo podemos hacer, ni podemos esperar a que les polítiques lo resuelvan en las elecciones de mitad de período el año que viene.
